My name is Rachel and thank you for taking the time to find out a little more about me. Given the fact you are already on this page you probably know I really love running. I live in Dublin so I am lucky to have parks, forests, canal ways, coastal paths and mountains all very close to me to run on. I have a running club, take part in lots of virtual run club events and enjoy solo miles too. I have ran 3 marathons and aiming to achieve sub-4 when races are back in our lives (dear future self: you wrote this during the coronavirus pandemic!). The past couple of months have made me realise more than ever how much I enjoy running and I don’t need a race to try and improve my speed or run further – I can do it because I want to and I love the feeling of pushing myself to achieve something. I have always loved getting off-road and running on difficult terrain even if I end up walking. The reason I started writing here again is because I went on my first proper trail run recently since moving to Dublin at the start of 2019. I have a plan in mind for a crazy trail run adventure in Wicklow so I plan to blog my progress as I explore the mountains on my doorstep and the many wrong turns I will no doubt take!
I go to a personal training gym class twice a week and every so often I will go for a spin on my bike or try to do some yoga. My day always starts with a cup of coffee, I love chocolate and it isn’t often that food is set in front of me and I won’t eat it.
I work for Esri Ireland (easiest way to explain: mapping software & spatial data analysis) so I love maps (perfect for trail running) and data (yes I am on Strava).
You can also find me on the @ukrunchat Instagram stories as I am proud member of the UK Run Chat team. This is a fab community on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram where you can find support for running and all things running related.
You can get in contact with me on Instagram or Twitter, the links are at the top of the page.
